Gundy Questioned Humanity, Not Credibility
You gotta love the spin that Jenni Carslon is putting on Mike Gundy's denouncment of her article. (Click here to read the article Carlson wrote and scroll down to see the video of Coach Gundy.) Carlson is saying that Gundy questioned her credibility; well Ms Carson, I watched the video of Gundy's post game speech and was questioning your humanity, not your credibility. There is a big difference. Sure, her credibility is suspect, read the article, her sources are "rumors and the rumblings", "back stories told on 
sly" and "word is", not exactly New York Times material but more National Enquirer. 
But Gundy didn't crucify her for not getting her sources right, he went after her because she was wrong to go after the young college kid who just got demoted from his dream job of starting QB at Okie State. And Gundy was right to go after her. I am sure many college football fans would like to shake his hand and say, "Good job Coach."

So now Carslon has the media up in arms because she is saying her article was based on facts that were correct. How, she is good; so good she even has herself and others believing that she was the one that was wronged, not the poor college kid. Granted, she may be right that the young QB did enjoy a meal with his mother after the game, but she is wrong to shift the blame to the facts of the article as her article was not about facts but about her interpretation of those facts. Carlson's gossiping style of reporting has no place in amateur athletics and Coach Gundy was right to call her to the mat on that. It seems other folks in the room agreed with Gundy, when he finished his lecture there was hearty round of applause. Too bad Carlson is not woman enough to own up to her errors instead of using red herring and media spin to shift the spotlight to "credibility" and away from the real issue - her unfounded attack on a young, amateur athlete at Oklahoma State University.
I am proud of Coach Gundy, what he did took real courage, but I bet it was easy for him to do because he knew it was the right thing to do; a real human being stands up for someone who is defenseless. How will this end? For Gundy, every player he coaches knows that he will stand up for them - no matter what the cost. As for Carlson, she can take care of herself with her paper and with help from early morning talk shows like Good Morning America. Heck, maybe she can spin this into a gig at ESPN or FOX. But someday, hopefully, when the furor has died down she will be able to look within and realize the errors of her ways and how damaging her words were to a young college athlete.
